In late September, Hurricane Helene devastated parts of North Carolina, especially the western region. At L.J. Rogers Trucking, we recognized the importance of stepping up in this critical moment. With deep roots in North Carolina, we were compelled to assist in the recovery efforts and help the communities that have supported us for so many years. Our team of drivers and staff understand that in times like these, it’s not just about business – it’s about coming together as a community to rebuild, support one another and offer a helping hand.
Partnering with Local Organizations and Delivering Critical Supplies
As the storm hit, L.J. Rogers Trucking quickly mobilized to help provide relief. We partnered with local organizations such as Crosslink Church in Mebane, N.C., along with fire departments and law enforcement agencies across Orange and Alamance counties. Our trucking fleet and team of drivers played a vital role in distributing essential supplies. We’re incredibly proud of the dedication and selflessness shown by our drivers and employees during this time.
For instance, driver Ray B. used his truck to transport trailer loads of essential items, including food, bottled water, hygiene products and medical supplies, directly to those in need. Meanwhile, Nick C. delivered a refrigerated trailer to Bible College in Hendersonville, ensuring the safe storage of perishable food, which ultimately helped feed 600 to 800 people. Employees like Rodney and Pam T. not only donated supplies but also volunteered at relief stations, going above and beyond to assist.
Ken Tilley, our Corporate Chaplain, led donation efforts within the company, and the L.J. Rogers family responded with generosity, reflecting the core values that guide our business. From the office to the road, our team worked tirelessly to deliver what mattered most to communities in distress.
A Commitment to Health, a Commitment to Community
At L.J. Rogers Trucking, we’ve always believed in giving back, and our involvement in Hurricane Helene’s recovery efforts has only strengthened that commitment. Our team isn’t just composed of truck drivers or office staff – we’re part of the local community. Many of our employees live in the areas affected by the hurricane, and their contributions come from a place of personal experience, empathy and responsibility. This effort is, in part, related to our company’s broader initiative, the L.J. Rogers Cares program, which focuses on the overall well-being of our employees and the communities we serve. Through this program, we promote healing in body, mind and spirit – values that have been integral to our response to this disaster. The resilience of our community inspires us to continue fostering this spirit of giving and helping those in need.
Continuing the Effort and Helping North Carolina Rebuild
While the immediate effects of Hurricane Helene are beginning to subside, we know that recovery will be an ongoing process. L.J. Rogers Trucking is committed to seeing these efforts through for as long as it takes. Whether it’s through continued supply runs, ongoing volunteer work, or providing logistics support, we are here for the long haul – helping Western North Carolina get back on its feet.
We are also encouraging other trucking companies and local businesses to join in the effort. The logistics industry is uniquely positioned to make a significant impact — trucks are essential for delivering relief supplies where they’re needed most. By leveraging our industry’s capabilities, we can accelerate the rebuilding process and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected.
We partnered with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Orange Grove Fire Department and Maple View Farm Ice Cream. If you’d like to join the relief efforts, you can donate needed supplies through Maple View Farms Ice Cream:
